Orsini has been making major strides to get into tip top shape to get back into the ring! As many of your saw either on social media or even a rare ESPN appearance Joey Janela was power slammed off a loading lock into the back of a pickup with flaming tables and light tubes. This act of craziness caused severe injury to Janela causing himself to be put in the hospital. H2O officials contacted d365 to let them know Janela was not going to be healthy enough to take on Lucha Underground Indy Star Thunder Rosa in their upcoming inter gender match Friday at the promotion's inaugural show. To make matters worse d365 got another phone call this coming Monday evening letting them know that Rosa tore her rotator cuff in her last match making it impossible for her to compete this tour weekend. I guess it was never meant to be! Thunder Rosa will still be making her meet & greet appearances at H20, Legends of the Ring, and WrestlePro this weekend. With so many companies blossoming in the NY/NJ area like Game Changer Wrestling, Warriors of Wrestling, UWA Elite, CZW, On Point Wrestling, D2W, Pro Wrestling Magic, WrestlePro, Pro Wrestling Syndicate, & Old Time Wrestling to just name a few. Other companies preparing to launch shows for the first time or in a while like H20, JAPW, Change The World Charity Wrestling, and eventually Synergy Professional Wrestling. There's that one or two promotions that doesn't get either dues or respect. We take a look at a wrestling fed uncomfortably called The Superstars of Wrestling Federation. Right off the bat, it's way too much to say as an intro of where you wanna spend your Saturday nights. Currently on their very aging roster they have well traveled and respected Damian Darling, Magic, and Matt Tremont. They are led by an untrained middle aged champion who some how knocked off Damian Darling. They have been knocked for putting on way too many matches especially tag matches, battle royals, and way too long of a card. Their card run an average of 4 hours and 20's minutes. WHAT?? That's an hour & 20 min too long! They plaster no shows constantly on their posters, never informing the general public of changes. There's been no updates on their facebook page since December 2015. At times they bring in some outside talent but it's usually the same crew they roll out there. The crew that comes cheapest via ESS Promotions. The likes of Sandman, Snitsky, Patriot, Koko B Ware, Tito Santana, Tony Atlas, and occasionally Tommy Dreamer. Don't get me wrong there are some household names who wrestling there like, The Rogues, Kentucky Bred, Deonna Purazzo, Darius Carter, Too Hot Steve Scott, and some others. Most will say it's because it's paycheck. But of course there is the rumors of wrestlers working for free or for $20-$30 per night. There's also been the stories of owner and head promoter Rob Fury (Banner) cancelling major talent last minute because ticket sales were terrible. Perfect example their last show which was an outdoor afternoon show. Two bad ideas to do on the Jersey Shore during beach season, is wrestling in the afternoon on a Saturday. There was a reporting of 57 total fans. In the photo pictured to the left Rob Fury is in the ring with a visible 9 fans in the background. I have been a part of many of these shows and have been part of crowds of 200+ and even defended the crowd sizes. But there's no defending that. Yes this is the only angle we have, but it will be hard to track down other photos if there's nothing but empty seats. So when does a promoter/owner know when it's time to hang up the clipboard and call it a career? How much longer or his partners going to indulge personal money into the sinking ship? I guess time will tell, but just on a business side, I can't see Superstars of Wrestling making it into 2017 unless Fury take ownership role, meaning Fury needs to step back and hire better bookers and creative. Or the SWF might be a blast from the past before the end the year holidays. |
